About the Service

To work as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand most Internationally educated nurses need to appear in a competency assessment process conducted by New Zealand nursing council which involves 2 exams that nurses have to pass to get their licence in New Zealand. Under the new assessment process, all applicants have to appear for a MCQ and practical (OSCE examination)  conducted by the New Zealand Nursing council (NZNC). The MCQ exam is conducted across 200 countries and for the OSCE examination you will need to go to New Zealand to prepare and appear in the exam. 

We provide end-to-end services for your whole journey through various stages of your application process. Once you get your New Zealand Nursing licence, you can also become an Australian RN under the TTMR pathway through an online application process. 

Eligibility criteria for application to NNAS

1.   B.Sc. Nursing /Post-basic B.Sc. nursing

2.    Work Experience- 1800 hours approximately 1 year of experience after getting your nursing licence in your home country.  

3.     English Language Proficiency - OET / IELTS (Academic)  

  • OET -350 for reading, listening, and speaking; and a minimum score of 300 for writing.

  • IELTS Academic -7 for reading, listening, and speaking; and a minimum score of 6.5 for writing.

FAQ'S (Frequently Asked Questions)

Step 1 Application with CGFNS International for assessment. The CGFNS fee is USD 300.

Step 2: Apply with the New Zealand Nursing Council. The fee is 485 (NZD)

Step 3: Appear for MCQ Examination in your home country. The fee is NZD 140. 

Step 4 Obtain a visa to come to New Zealand for preparation and appearing in the exam. The visa fee is NZD 250. 

Step 5 OSCE preparation and examination conducted by NZNC - 3500 NZD

Step 6 After passing the examination, Obtain an International criminal history check, Fee is AUD 160 per country where you have lived in the last 7 years for 6 months or more. 

Step 7 Obtain an Annual Practising certificate  at a fee of 130 (NZD) and start work as a Registered nurse in New Zealand. 

Optional- If you wish to get an Australian nursing licence after getting your New Zealand nursing licence , you can do it under the TTMR (Trans TasmanMutual Recognition pathway) by applying to AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). The fee is 410 AUD.

Clubbing of scores is accepted if scores are obtained in 2 sittings within a period of 1 year and met within three years of your CGFNS report being transmitted to New Zealand Nursing Council. 

Time frame can vary depending on each profile, how quickly documents are arranged by applicant and case officer of each candidate. On an average it can take 4- 6 months..

The costs for the IQN theoretical/MCQ exam is $140NZ. 

Part A (Medication Safety) and Part B (Nursing Knowledge) constitute the MCQ exam and if you need to re-sit any of the parts you are required to pay and appear in the part you failed.

 

Re-sitting Part A (Medication Safety) costs $32 NZ, and re-sitting Part B (Nursing Knowledge) costs $108 NZ.

The orientation & preparation course costs $500 NZ.

The OSCE clinical examination costs $3,000 NZ.

Yes, the fee for resitting the OSCE is $3,000 NZ.

You  have three attempts to successfully complete the MCQ and OSCE examination.

Yes, there may be additional costs such as the translation of original documents into English, flight & accommodation costs for your travel to New Zealand.

No, there is no time frame within which you have to complete this process.It's advisable to complete the registration process promptly to expedite your ability to practice nursing legally.

You can withdraw your application at any stage.However, all fees you have paid are non-refundable.
