We provide end-to-end services for your whole journey from application to registration including NCLEX and OSCE preparation programs under the OBA (Outcomes-Based Assessment) pathway for overseas registered nurses.
To start working as a Registered Nurse in Australia, you must apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) works with the NMBA to provide various services to Internationally Qualified nurses and midwives. Hence, applying to AHPRA is the first step toward achieving your dream Australian Nursing Career.
Nurses need to submit their qualification information at the Self-check on the AHPRA website.
Pay IQNM Assessment fees of AUD 410 if eligible after self-check.
Attend an one-hour e-learning module on AHPRA’s portal.
Upload all your identity, and qualification documents duly attested as per AHPRA guidelines
Once approved by AHPRA, appear, and pass your NCLEX RN examination. Approx. fees 350 USD (550AUD)
Appear for OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) which is a practical examination conducted by Adelaide Health Simulation Centre. The fee for this examination is AUD 4000.
Pay the registration fees of AUD 475 and apply for registration by submitting the required documents
Complete the e-learning module within the first 6 months of becoming a registered nurse in Australia.
Unfortunately, Diploma of Nursing is not considered to be an equivalent qualification to enter the OBA pathway. AHPRA advises that you must upgrade your qualification to a bachelor’s level to be eligible under this pathway.
AHPRA assesses each application individually and most applicants receive an outcome within 6- 8 weeks provided that the documents submitted are as per AHPRA’s guidelines.
You will need to submit valid English language test results after successfully passing the OSCE exam.
You can opt for IELTS (Academic), PTE (Academic), OET (Occupational English Tests), or TOEFL (iBT) is accepted. Please refer to the blog Meeting AHPRA’s English language standard for more information.
As per the recency of practice standard of the AHPRA, 450 hours of work experience as a Registered nurse is recommended within the last 5 years.
However, if you have successfully passed the OBA assessment ie NCLEX, and OSCE examination, you will meet the recency of practice standard even if you do NOT have work experience.
