About the Service

We provide end-to-end services for your whole journey from application to registration including NCLEX  and OSCE  preparation programs under the OBA (Outcomes-Based Assessment) pathway for overseas registered nurses. 
To start working as a Registered Nurse in Australia, you must apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) works with the NMBA to provide various services to Internationally Qualified nurses and midwives. Hence, applying to AHPRA is the first step toward achieving your dream Australian Nursing Career. 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Bachelor of Nursing (4 years) graduate or equivalent are generally approved to take the OBA (Outcomes-Based Assessment Pathway).
  2. You will also need to meet the English language standard, criminal history standard, and other standards laid down by AHPRA.

FAQ'S (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Step 1
    Self Check

    Nurses need to submit their qualification information at the Self-check on the AHPRA website.

  • Step 2
    Assessment Fees

    Pay IQNM Assessment fees of AUD 410 if eligible after self-check.

  • Step 3
    Orientation Part 1

    Attend an one-hour e-learning module on AHPRA’s portal.

  • Step 4
    Portfolio

    Upload all your identity, and qualification documents duly attested as per AHPRA guidelines

  • Step 5
    NCLEX-RN/MCQ Exam

    Once approved by AHPRA, appear, and pass your NCLEX RN examination. Approx. fees 350 USD (550AUD)

  • Step 6
    OSCE

    Appear for OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) which is a practical examination conducted by Adelaide Health Simulation Centre. The fee for this examination is AUD 4000.

  • Step 7
    Apply For Registration

    Pay the registration fees of AUD 475 and apply for registration by submitting the required documents

  • Step 8
    Orientation Part II

    Complete the e-learning module within the first 6 months of becoming a registered nurse in Australia.

Unfortunately, Diploma of Nursing is not considered to be an equivalent qualification to enter the OBA pathway. AHPRA advises that you must upgrade your qualification to a bachelor’s level to be eligible under this pathway.

AHPRA assesses each application individually and most applicants receive an outcome within 6- 8 weeks provided that the documents submitted are as per AHPRA’s guidelines.

You will need to submit valid English language test results after successfully passing the OSCE exam.

You can opt for IELTS (Academic), PTE (Academic), OET (Occupational English Tests), or TOEFL (iBT) is accepted. Please refer to the blog Meeting AHPRA’s English language standard for more information. 

As per the recency of practice standard of the AHPRA, 450 hours of work experience as a Registered nurse is recommended within the last 5 years.

However, if you have successfully passed the OBA assessment ie NCLEX, and OSCE examination, you will meet the recency of practice standard even if you do NOT have work experience.

You can complete your process until NCLEX RN as most countries have NCLEX RN centers. Refer to the NCSBN website for testing locations.

However, since OSCE is only conducted in Adelaide, Australia, you will need to explore your visa options by visiting the website.
